About this project
Multilingual catalogue site for a foundry (cast iron, aluminium, street furniture, roads, agricultural). The legacy site's content was migrated into a PostgreSQL database, the old URLs are redirected with 301s, and a back office manages products, categories, catalogues, reference guides, redirects, languages and users. Content translation is automated with AI, language by language. Each language has its own SEO: sitemap with hreflang, JSON-LD structured data and per-site Search Console verification. The site also offers a wheel weight finder by brand and model, with quote requests.
What I delivered
- Migration of the legacy site's content to PostgreSQL (idempotent scraping and import scripts)
- 301 redirects from the old URLs, with a script that checks the targets
- Admin back office: products, categories, catalogues, reference guides, redirects, languages and users
- AI content translation, with per-language sync jobs
- Multilingual SEO: sitemap with hreflang, robots.txt, JSON-LD structured data, per-site Search Console verification
My role
I designed and built the multilingual catalogue site and its admin back office.
Loiselet.com project context
Loiselet, a foundry, had a legacy website to rebuild. Its content had to be carried over, the old URLs kept and the catalogue published in several languages.
Solution
A Next.js/TypeScript site on PostgreSQL: content migrated by scripts, 301 redirects from the old URLs, an admin back office, AI translation with per-language sync and multilingual SEO (hreflang, JSON-LD).
Outcome
A catalogue managed from a back office and published in several languages, with a 1,487-URL sitemap.
Technical challenge
The same codebase serves several languages and several sites, with different language codes between the UI (ES-CT) and the database (ca). I split the two in a dedicated layer and added per-language translation jobs, claimed atomically to avoid duplicates across instances.
Key features
- Catalogue by business area: industry, aluminium, urban, roads, art and tradition, agricultural, ballast
- Product pages with variants
- Aluminium technical pages (foundry processes) and reference guides with property tables, standards and cast-iron selection
- Global catalogue search
- Wheel weight finder by brand and model, with quote request
- Multilingual site with no language prefix in URLs, contact form protected by reCAPTCHA v3
